I thought it was a real treat when my parents let my brothers and I drink from that special mug. The excitement of drinking down to the frog was a stimulating experience for us kids. But now - no one cares about the mug with the frog. And, it just sits on the shelf. Then, there is all the "stuff" they won't get rid of, like the 1967 World Book Encyclopedia, their college textbooks, tax records from 1950s and beyond, wigs from the 60's, and the ever favorite stack of National Geographic magazines. Even librarians dread the call from widows or widowers, "Hi, my husband just passed away and I would like to donate all his/her old books to the library - especially their National Geographic collection. Would you be interested?" So for the guys and gals who have everything and don't want one more thing to dust, put in an album, or take care of, what do you get them? Here are a few ideas that older people would love to get for birthdays and holidays.
