I've been thinking a lot about gifts for my parents. They are 82 and 84 respectively. They really don't want anything from their kids when birthdays or Christmas rolls around. They just enjoy their family and the company. They enjoy giving, but not getting. Well, maybe they enjoy getting sometimes, but most of the time I see the dread in their eyes as they open their gifts. It is like a silent, "Oh no, don't let it be one more knick-knack I have to put on my shelf." It seems like they already have every kind of knick knack possible. They've got Hummel figurines, antique dishes, a collection of elephants (passed down from their parents), collectible beer mugs, golf balls, political pins, and they even have a cute little mug that I remember from childhood that had a frog at the bottom of it.
